LATE SUMMER BARBEQUE
On Saturday, 10th September, the branch organised a barbeque in the lovely garden of 63 Hollow Lane
The committee pulled out all the stops and set up Gazebos which as it turned out was a wise decision as shortly before the start time, down came the rain. Fortunately, it was a short downpour and the party started on time. Association members came from all over the area. Ted Gale was doorman checking the tickets. The 'Two Andys', Cousins and Lenaghan proved to be excellent barbeque chefs. Particularly liked were the shrimp kebabs flavoured with a sauce I would like to get the recipe of. A wide range of salads and quiches plus other foods were produced by the members. Branch chairman, Vic Pierce Jones provided diners with very welcome wine. The afternoon finished with a raffle draw for a good selection of donated and bought prizes. Our special thanks go to Leah Turner for organising the function and Barbara Gardener for letting us use her garden and house for the second year running.

2011 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Wednesday 16th February
A very exuberant up beat full house meeting was chaired by Vic Pierce-Jones. Reports were received from the officers and councillors. The 2011/12 committee was elected with some new faces. Cllrs. David Collins and Andy Lenaghan were adopted/selected to stand in the May local elections. Tim Lines, Political Deputy Chairman of the association gave a brief talk on the disadvantages for the AV voting procedure which will be the subject of the May referendum. He asked the branch to make every effort to circulate leaflets throughout Hayling, explaining why a 'No' vote is important to maintain a fair and effective electoral system in the country. First Past the Post is not perfect but the alternative could mean coalition governments ever after, or even worse, the election of a minority party.
The meeting formally closed at 8.45pm and the members enjoyed the refreshments provided by Leah Turner and her helpers. The offical minutes follow below.

Ted Gale took the Chair and Vic Pierce Jones was proposed and seconded as Chairman for the forthcoming year. This was carried unanimously.
The accounts were presented and accepted unanimously. Generally a reasonable year was enjoyed financially, thanks to the efforts of Leah Turner and her fund raising committee and the efforts of Mandy Worrall prior to her resignation as Membership Secretary. Membership was actually down along with Hut rental but balanced by social fund raising.
VPJ then took the Chair and Andy Lenaghan was proposed and seconded as treasurer, John Smith as Vice Chairman, Michael Wilson as Membership Secretary, and Leah Turner and Gill Mulingani as joint Secretary’s. All were carried unanimously.
The Committee of the Hayling branch was proposed as all those present above along with Andy Cousins and Nigel Chilcott.
Each Councillor gave a short presentation to those present on activity and their roles with HBC.
Neil Strange gave a presentation on the results of a recent survey carried out amongst members of the association.
Andy Lenaghan and David Collins were selected to represent Hayling West and East respectively in the next local election.
AOB Tim Lines talked on the pitfalls of the Alternative Voting system being proposed and due to be voted on in a referendum simultaneously with the local elections in May. Tim requested serious consideration be given to maximising the NO to AV publicity and organise sufficient leafleting to drive the message home.
The meeting closed at 8.45 and a buffet and glass of wine prepared by Leah and Gill was enjoyed by all.
